“I always knew I would be in the building industry. I first worked with my dad and my grandfather, then took my first job in construction when I was 15 years old. When I entered Michigan State University, I majored in civil engineering with an emphasis on structural. To succeed in construction, I had to understand structures. After graduation, I practiced structural engineering and earned my professional engineers license. Engineering developed the mental skills I needed to be efficient, logical and creative.
